Visions of Sugarplums...

Our tree is a constant work in progress. Every day Kellen gets up and can't wait to go downstairs and see our tree. In his best 2 year old voice he asks over and over "lights, lights momma!" til I find the cord and plug it in. Then he cries "beautiful chrispmisp twee", then proceeds to pull off all the ornaments he can reach and place them every so purposefully on the bottom branches. This of course pleases him very much, but it is also right where his baby sister, Casey, can reach them and subsequently eat them. now that is a party foul! So like a good mommy (to Casey) i rearrange them up onto a higher branch, much to Kellen's dismay. This goes on and on ALL day. Each day we lose an ornament or 2 due to wear and tear and baby nibbles. Keep on eating Casey we can make more! Some ribbon and construction paper and voila! New ornaments to rearrange... With all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, go here, dirve there, bake this, buy that....Kellen reminds me what it is all about. Fun. Pure and simple. I think we may need to buy a fake tree just so he can continue his ritual, I dread the day the poor tree has become too much of a fire hazard and i have to take it down . (while he is sleeping of course) He will be so sad to come downstairs and see his tree gone...But for now he is a happy boy.

So cute! We designated one (unbreakable) ornament to be the one that D. was allowed to remove and put on over and over whenever he wanted, it seems to have curbed the desire to handle all of them. I like the construction paper idea!
