my older man. ;)

today was maine daddy's birthday.  and every year i get to ride him for 17 days that he is a whole year older than me.  yes we were born only 17 days apart.  so for this week and next i am the younger woman!  (wink wink) ok yes technically i am always "younger"  but for these next 17 days he is 3_ and i am 3_- 1 year.  (ok he is 37 and i am 36 .... for a few more days anyway)  kids painted some really awesome canvases for daddy to decorate his work space with.  it is quite colorful already but who can't use more?  we set them out on the table for him to see first thing this morning.  we baked blueberry muffins and brewed coffee.  kids jumped on the bed to wake him up with happy birthday kisses. after breakfast they took him the rest of his gifts.  it was a cloudy day but WARM for our standards.  i think it reached 44!!!  hello!  yes over the freezing mark!  (woot!) we made good use of that melting and actually cleared our deck of all that ice, it was A LOT!  not tops on anyone's list, especially on their birthday, but it felt good to have it gone and to be out in the warmer air and actually sweating!  i started out with coat and hat and scarf and ended up in just my shirt.  kids played in the mountains of snow.  i was feeling so adventurous and happy for them to be out that i shoveled a path to the swing set and dug out the swings.  that made casey happy.  later we went out for dinner.  and then home for chocolate chocolate cake and silly birthday hats.  kellen dug us out each a knit hat from our winter pile to wear.  it was a nice day.  taylor missed out on the fun  though she has a deep cough brewing and said it made her chest hurt so she stayed to herself in her room watching movies on her computer and of course chatting .  happy birthday honey.  we all love you.

happy birthday maine daddy!!!
sounds like a great day to me, too.

Damon is 21 days older than me, too!

...do you guys both love each other madly and fight like dogs from time to time? someone once told us we were an astrological mismatch, but we've proven them wrong, through thick & thin...or through very hard noggins!

Happy happy bday, Maine Daddy! Hooray for 1972 babies (of which I am one as well)! Alas, my husband NEVER gets to be older than I am, as he was born in 1977. So I guess I'm always the old woman in the household!
