pam~pakes

our weekend was spent close to home.
on saturday we made chili, baked an apple galette, and cleared our back yard of all those wet wet leaves. it was nice to see the grass. props to kellen who works like a full grown guy. he loves physical labor, he volunteers for it. he scooped and pushed and carried leaves for over an hour and was actually a little upset with me when i threw in the towel and said it was time to go in, warm up and have lunch. on sunday we woke and i made "pam-pakes" for breakfast. i realized that "pam-pakes" is one of the last remaining toddler words in our house besides "lellow". i love the toddler words. seeing them all go makes me realize just how much my little ones are growing up. i may just call pancakes "pam-pakes" on principle from now on.... later we ate the yummy chili leftovers from saturdays cooking extravaganza and took a trip up to Borders for a book. i did notice it was dark at 4:50pm, ugh. i need a winter plan. these early dark nights effect me so, even more than the bitter cold i think. it is dark before we eat dinner. i struggle with that, what to do? how to keep little ones stimulated and happy in these long dark hours? i guess i need to start figuring that out since that time is now.

kristin- ugh. i am struggling with the same thing right now. i just hate that it is dark so early. wyatt doesn't get out of school until 3:40 so we are home a little before 4 and then it is dark in less than an hour! hardly no time to even play outside at all. it really affects my mood. energy, etc. i'm with you, i would prefer it to be super cold and snowy as long as the sun was out!
i love the pam-pakes, so cute, and yes, almost all of those words are gone here, too : ( sniff.
