breezy

seems like summer is already rushing by. the days have been so beautiful we have been packing them full. some times a little too full. like an unspoken panic of oh it is july already... august is almost here... oh then sept and who knows how cold that may be... madly absorbing all this summer goodness like if i blink it may disappear. i need to remind myself to slow down, be in the moment, this moment right now. not madly planning the next. with us all being home right now days blur one into another. i think to myself what day is it? oh yes, friday, right...
today was the first cloudy cool day we have had in awhile. i took the day and caught up on things i have been neglecting a bit around the house.. i cleaned up, picked up, did some laundry, and cut some grass. my hubby got the groceries. kellen never got dressed, they both slept in (rarely happens) and then he proceeded to stay in his pj's all day. we cooked out on the grill tonight, and then walked downtown for an ice cream (kellen did take off pj's and put on shorts for this), my mom's treat. i had coconut in a sugar cone. oh SO good. tomorrow is to be beautiful once more and you will most likely find us at the beach. the kids have really become water rats this summer, and they are now old enough to just play and we can relax a bit and watch. it is good.
i have almost finished this book and will need to find a new read. any thoughts of a must summer read?
i hope to get to the market in portland this weekend. i have yet to get there at all this year. it is so pretty and i love to just walk and snap photos while i am there. still reminding myself to breathe more, hurry less, summer is here and is staying awhile, i need to put my panic away. :)

i hope your weekend is sunny and breezy.
happy friday.

Putting your "panic away". Perfect. The only time I didn't feel that panic was when I lived in Tennessee for 3 years. Enjoy the moment. xo

I, too, feel like summer has just begun but is already slipping away. Thank you for the reminder to take each day as it is.

xo.

We are in the WHERE HAS SUMMER GONE panic too, but hopefully we'll put that behind us and love every moment that is here, now.

Love this. I'm sitting in a tire store and wishing I was hanging up the laundry with my laughing boys at my feet. Thanks for the minute escape...

Not really having a summer . . . at least that's how I feel with curriculum writing and classes. But reading helps! Totally geared towards the 16-year-old group but worth a read: You Wish or Prada and Prejudice both by Mandy Hubbard. Pure, escapist fun . . . kind of lovely for summer.

If you want to try something different to read there is an Australian author called Tim Winton. He has won quite alot of writing prizes over here and his books evoke that summery, beachy feel with the complexities of human life thrown in. Look out for Cloud Street, Breathe or Dirt Music . I love the feel of summer in your post while I am sitting here in Brisbane freezing my butt off!
