there is only one star.
so turns must be taken.
this is one of those times my photo passion comes in handy. there is always a photo of who did it last year. keeps us honest. ;)
this year was her turn.
we are a week behind.
we hoped to do the tree last weekend when the flu derailed us all. so last night, when a cough set in, i could not believe i was getting sick in a new way. (not a total shock since i was depleted from the flu and lack of sleep last week, but disheartening nonetheless.) there was no way i was not going to do the tree today, no matter how sick i felt when i woke up.
thank goodness it was a sunny day.
we made the trek to the farm.
they picked the perfect tree.
sipped warm cider and munched free candy canes while daddy tied the tree to our car. then we came home, put on some christmas music, and put up the tree. the house smells like pine. (so good and comforting) the kids decorated all on their own, picking their favorite ornaments from the box. i love that even at 6 & 8, they already reminisce over the ornaments. "remember when you made this!!!" as they pull a handmade ornament out the box. pipe cleaner wreath. gold macaroni tree. i love the memories in that box and in the tradition of the tree and the feeling it brings.
it's beginning to look a lot like christmas around here.

one of the best smells ever! This is a sweet image. I love that even though you are sick, you made it happen. You just did it.
