took a long drive today (longer than i had remembered) to Keene, New Hampshire for their annual pumpkin festival. their last world record set was in 2003 with 28,952 jack-o-lanterns! that's a lot of pumpkin guts! driving up through the mountains it started to rain and blow, i thought we were in for an unpleasant day. we were so close to getting there, too far to turn back now. once we crossed into Keene the rain stopped and the ground was actually dry there. we only spent 2 hours walking around the square and it was still light when we left, so no lighting of the jack-o-lanterns for us. even still the kids were excited to see all those carved pumpkins in one place. kellen was confused though, he thought we were picking up pumpkins for some reason, so he was a bit perturbed that we LEFT his and didn't take any home WITH us. (sorry buddy guess i should have explained it better). at least the weather held off as long as we stayed, being wet would not have been much fun. anyone else get there? stay for the lights? oh and fireworks? of course i have no idea what the final tally will be for the event today but i don't think it will be a new record. i think the forecast of bad storms and a gray day probably kept some away.
