baked with love

easy fast fun.
baking crayon hearts.
any broken bits of crayons around your house?  half eaten?  paper peeled off? stuck in the couch cushions?   yes?  ok good, me too.  LOTS of them.  i used to chuck them when they got so small they became choking hazards, but then i saw this idea and i started to weed out all those bits and save them for a day like today.  yes it is snowing again.  it is starting to become sad.  it does that to you.  so today was the perfect time to bake up some happy colorful fun.  i purchased a silicone heart shaped baking pan, just break your bits up mix and match any color combos you wish,  place them in the tin or pan and bake at 200 degrees til melted into liquid.  only a few minutes.  i just kept an eye on them.  then remove and let them cool completely til they are hard.  pop out and voila!  fun fat shaped crayons.  these are super great for casey she can grasp them much easier than a normal crayon.   i poked a hole in a few and strung them on yarn as a pretty necklace.  we are gifting these with our valentine's day cards this year.

***tip make sure to fill your molds to  the top.  the first batch i made was far too thin and the hearts broke almost instantly. that makes for sad little ones...

then of course i play with them too for my own creative ideas...

This is SO VERY COOL! I never heard of baked crayons before! If I have my own crayons, are children required?!

As always, your photos are so much fun...
