creativity means so much to so many. we all have our unique ideas of what creativity does for ourselves, our children, our families, our communities, our lives. I like this quote by mary lou cook, " Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun."
i feel i have always been a creative person. crafting & art was a big part of my childhood. music as well, playing piano. then in my early 20's i lost touch with my creative side, replaced by the busyness and responsibility of single parenthood. then just a few years ago i picked up a camera and that was that, i was hooked. creativity sprang forth from inside me. i can no longer imagine my days without thinking creatively. whether it be photographically, making art with my kids, sewing a quilt, blogging, or cooking & baking with my husband, it is just an integral part of our lives now. i continually strive to nurture creativity in myself and my children as they grow.
I am honored to be a guest contributor this year at Creativity Boot Camp. The creator and coach of boot camp, Maegan Blimshine of Madeline Bea Photography, describes camp this way:
"Creativity Boot Camp is a 2 week intensive e~course designed to take your creativity to the next level. The course consists of daily creative conditioning exercises to shift your life patterns allowing for a full embracing of your creative selves leading to higher levels of creativity."

i think creativity is always there, in everyone, perhaps buried or shadowed, but whirring and stirring weather realized or not, then suddenly POP! out it comes in one form or another.
we simply need to be open to creativity and it's time table then recognize it in it's many many different forms.
I am afraid, but I'll still throw "my hat" in to see if I'm meant to be in boot camp.

I am so with you in the desire to nurture creativity in myself and my boys. I see their souls so purely and openly through their (very different) forms of artistic expression.
