nineteen

so long ago i became a mommy of a baby girl. a bald baby girl. she grew to a todller with a crooked smile and "fists of fury". she said funny words like honkas. she grew and grew and grew. year and years and more years flew by.
today i put candles on a cake.
nineteen of them
and i wonder how the heck did we get here?!?
how is this the last year that "teen" will ever be attached to her?
it is just crazy.
and that my friends is life.
one day you bring home a baby... the next day you are lighting 19 candles on a cake.
makes my head spin and my heart ache.

happy birthday to that once bald headed baby girl, now a young woman of 19.
