last day of five

five was a big year, HUGE!
it was the year i walked you to the bus stop on your very first day of school ever.
the year you spread your beautiful wings more than you ever had before.
you were brave sweet one.  (i was heartsick)
this was the year you fell in love with your teacher, made new friends, went to your first school birthday party, learned how to spell your last name (and that is no small task it IS 11 letters long!)  the year you tried lobster and shrimp.  the year you still choose tuna "sammiches" over pb &j.  you LOVE the ocean and nature.  you search for treasures everywhere we go.  (and most days you find them.)  you run like the wind and laugh like no body's business!  the end of your nose turns up when you really get going.  you are smart and artistic and creative and imaginative.  you love to pretend play and dress up.  you are the very best brother.  you are caring and gentle and kind and wise.  your soul is older than your 5 years,  you are intuitive and loving.  you are a wisher and believer.  you believe in magic and fairies and love building fairy houses.  you adore holidays and decorating.  you clean your own room like a pro.  you are a whiz on the computer,  you are timid of animals, you have an adventurous palette, loving fish and salmon and almost any vegetable i put in front of you.  you ask for wheat bread over white.  you love "pizza hunt"  and "treats".  just recently you became a reader! opening a whole NEW world to you.  you received your first comic book and carried it around like a beautiful treasure for days!   you still love superman and pirates; legos and playdoh; drawing and coloring;  and of course tattoos!  this year you outgrew every pair of pants with your long lean legs.  your eyes are the blue of denim just like a great pair of jeans, and your head a mess of blonde curls that i just can't keep my hands out of.  you love a bath & fit in the tub with your baby sister.  you still have "purple" (your blanket) and you and give it to anyone who is sad or sick because, "purple is magic, and purple makes you better."  you are always affectionate and still ask to hold my hand. (good sigh)
kellen you are so many things.
you are so very special.
you are magic
you make my everyday more beautiful.
hold onto your tenderness,  your heart is as wide as that ocean you so love.

may 6 be full of wonder and joy for you my love.
xo,
 momma

He is the luckiest little boy ever to have you as a mom. Look how your nurturing has helped him become just who he was meant to be. I hope to meet you and your sweet family in person one day!
xoxo!
