ordinary everydayness

i think that title fits me.
i am not fancy.
i like ordinary everyday things.
cooking- prepping; i love the mundane task of chopping, washing and gathering my ingredients. it is one of my favorite things to do and shoot these winter days.

cleaning- don't get me wrong, i do not LOVE to clean, but i do love the feeling i get when i am done cleaning. i like that a lot. a calm comes over me.
laundry- ok, so NOT my fave to do, but definitely my fave to smell. warm wash fresh out of the dryer = heaven. (right now my dryer is broken. i am not a happy girl.)

what everyday things do you find comfort in? just curious.

Washing the dishes with the new dish soap that I just found. It smells like Orange Bubblicious Bubble Gum. Makes me smile ear to ear.

washing the dishes by hand. hanging clothes out on the line and bringing them in (of course the added benefit is i get to steal a few minutes of quiet time). braiding my daughter's hair. making my bed. cooking a healthy dinner that brings my family together around the table.

Laundry! i say a prayer of thanks over my machines each time because I am so grateful to be able to do laundry in my own home at my own bidding. And, is there anything better than fresh, clean linens and clothes??? I find doing laundry so satisfying.

Now, sadly, my beloved set of 16years died. When?, oh yeah, during a family bout with the stomach flu....nice! Hoping for the a long lasting love affair with the new set.

I miss quiet time with tea and maybe some apples with honey. What I find the most comforting is being able to get dressed before J's first nap. And it's even better if I can have my hair and makeup done too. If not, I like to spend some time playing with eye make up. I know I know.. worst homemaker ever. But right now I feel comforted by knowing I'm ready for the day and feeling good about how I look.

I also love washing my hands with hand soap from Trader Joe's.

I do like to make beds. Even if there are a few toys on the floor, I feel ready for drop-in company because the beds are made.

In the summer, all i want to do is get outside and water the garden, weed the garden, love the garden. in the winter, well, i think dusting. I do NOT love to dust, but I love how much cleaner the house feels after doing so. And I feel your dryer pain...ours is broken too : (

pulling the recycling bin up the road.
taking laundry dry and crisp off the line folding and tossing into the basket outside.
